Depop Fees Explained: Zero Commission & Real Costs

by DimMath

These figures apply to Depop United States. UK processing and Boosted Listing rates are noted separately where they differ; other countries still pay a selling commission.

Depop is one of the cheapest marketplaces to sell on in 2026. Since July 2024 US sellers pay zero selling commission on eligible listings. The only mandatory cost is a payment processing fee of 3.3 percent plus $0.45 per transaction. On a $30 sale that is $1.44 in total fees. No listing fee. No monthly subscription. No commission.

But there are two things most guides get wrong. First: the processing fee applies to the item price plus shipping plus applicable taxes not just the item price. Second: Boosted Listings increased from 8 percent to 12 percent on March 23 2026 for US and UK sellers. Most articles still say 8 percent. That number is wrong for any boost run after March 23 2026.

This article breaks down every Depop seller fee in 2026 with real dollar examples so you know exactly what you are paying before you list.

No Selling Fee – But Here Is What You Actually Pay

Depop removed its 10 percent selling commission for UK sellers in March 2024 and for US sellers on July 15 2024. Before that change every sale on Depop cost the seller 10 percent of the total transaction regardless of category or price. The removal made Depop one of the cheapest resale platforms available.

As of August 2026 US and UK sellers pay zero selling commission on eligible new listings. The only mandatory cost is the payment processing fee charged through Depop Payments which is powered by Stripe.

Three cost categories exist on Depop in 2026:

Payment processing fee: mandatory on every sale. 3.3 percent plus $0.45 per transaction in the US. This is the only fee that always applies.

Boosted Listings fee: optional but charged when a boosted listing sells. 12 percent of the item sale price for US and UK sellers effective March 23 2026.

Buyer marketplace fee: paid by the buyer not the seller. Up to 5 percent of the item price plus a fixed amount. This does not come out of your payout but it affects buyer behavior and conversion rates.

No listing fee. No monthly subscription. No category commission. If you sell without boosting the only fee you pay is 3.3 percent plus $0.45 on the total transaction.

The Payment Processing Fee – 3.3% Plus $0.45 on Everything

The payment processing fee is the one fee every Depop seller pays on every sale. It is charged by Depop Payments through Stripe and deducted automatically before your payout clears.

2026 payment processing rates:

US sellers: 3.3% plus $0.45 per transaction
UK sellers: 2.9% plus £0.30 per transaction

The fee is calculated on the total transaction amount which includes the item sale price, the shipping cost the buyer pays, and any applicable sales tax. This is the detail most sellers miss.

On a $25 item with $5 shipping:
Total transaction: $30
Processing fee: 3.3% of $30 plus $0.45 = $0.99 plus $0.45 = $1.44
Net payout before shipping label cost: $28.56

On a $50 item with $8 shipping:
Total transaction: $58
Processing fee: 3.3% of $58 plus $0.45 = $1.91 plus $0.45 = $2.36
Net payout before shipping label cost: $55.64

The $0.45 flat fee has a disproportionate impact on low-priced items. On a $10 sale the $0.45 flat fee represents 4.5 percent of the transaction on top of the 3.3 percent percentage fee. The effective processing rate on a $10 sale is 7.8 percent. On a $50 sale the effective processing rate drops to 4.2 percent.

The processing fee applies to shipping charges. Reducing your actual shipping label cost reduces the fee base on which Depop charges the 3.3 percent. A seller paying $3.80 for a label through a discounted shipping platform versus $5.50 at the post office charges buyers $3.80 instead of $5.50 reducing the Depop processing fee on that shipping amount from $0.63 to $0.47 per shipment.

Boosted Listings – The 12% Fee That Changed in March 2026

Boosted Listings is Depop’s paid promotion feature. When you boost a listing Depop increases its visibility in search results and discovery feeds. The boost fee is only charged when the boosted listing results in a sale. No sale means no boost fee.

The boost fee rate changed on March 23 2026:

US and UK sellers: 12% of the item sale price effective March 23 2026. Increased from 8%.
International sellers outside US and UK: 8% of the item sale price.

The 12 percent fee is calculated on the item sale price only not the total transaction amount. Shipping charges are excluded from the boost fee calculation.

This is where most seller guides get the numbers wrong. Any boost run before March 23 2026 was charged at 8 percent. Any boost run on or after March 23 2026 is charged at 12 percent for US and UK sellers. If you set up your Depop pricing using the old 8 percent boost rate your margin calculations are now understated by 4 percentage points on every boosted sale.

On a $30 item sold through a Boosted Listing:
Boost fee: 12% of $30 = $3.60
Processing fee: 3.3% of $30 plus $0.45 = $1.44 (assumes no shipping charged separately)
Total fees on a $30 boosted sale: $5.04 or 16.8% of the item price

On a $50 item sold through a Boosted Listing:
Boost fee: 12% of $50 = $6.00
Processing fee: 3.3% of $50 plus $0.45 = $2.10
Total fees on a $50 boosted sale: $8.10 or 16.2% of the item price

Depop fee structure breakdown showing zero commission, payment processing, and boosted listing fee rates

Depop fee structure breakdown: 0% selling commission, 3.3% plus $0.45 payment processing, and 12% Boosted Listings rate.

Whether Boosted Listings pays off depends on whether the additional visibility converts to sales that would not have happened organically. Sellers in competitive categories with thin margins should model the boost fee against their margin floor before running campaigns. At 12 percent the boost fee brings Depop’s effective fee rate closer to eBay’s 13.6 percent final value fee for boosted sales.

The Buyer Marketplace Fee – What Your Buyers Pay

The buyer marketplace fee is a separate charge that Depop adds to the buyer’s checkout in the US and UK. It is not deducted from your payout. It is paid entirely by the buyer.

The buyer marketplace fee is up to 5 percent of the item purchase price plus a fixed amount. Depop does not publish the exact formula publicly and the fee can vary by transaction.

This fee affects sellers indirectly. When buyers see an unexpected fee added at checkout some abandon the purchase before completing it. This is the same cart abandonment dynamic as DDU shipping on international orders where buyers receive an unexpected charge and refuse delivery or abandon the cart.

The buyer marketplace fee funds Depop’s buyer protection program which covers lost packages, items not as described, and other buyer claims. As a seller this fee means your buyers are paying slightly more than your listed price which can affect conversion rates particularly on price-sensitive low-value items.

There is nothing a seller can do to eliminate the buyer marketplace fee. It is automatically added by Depop at checkout. The practical implication: if your buyer’s budget is $30 they may only be able to purchase items listed at $27 to $28 after the buyer marketplace fee is added. Price your listings with this buffer in mind.

H2: The Legacy Listing Trap and International Seller Fees

Two situations catch sellers off guard on Depop in 2026.

The legacy listing trap:

Depop removed the 10 percent selling fee for US sellers on July 15 2024 and for UK sellers in March 2024. However listings that were created before those dates and have not been updated may still be classified under the old 10 percent fee structure.

If you have items listed before mid-2024 that you have never edited or refreshed they may still be charging you 10 percent per sale instead of 0 percent. The fix is simple: open each old listing in your Depop app, tap Edit, make any minor change (even adjusting the description by one word), and save. This migrates the listing to the current 0 percent fee structure.

Sellers who have been on Depop for several years and have large catalogs of old listings should audit their fee structure in the Depop app to confirm which listings are on the new 0 percent structure and which are still under the old 10 percent rate.

International sellers:

If you are selling on Depop from outside the US and UK the fee structure is different. International sellers still pay a 10 percent selling fee on every sale on top of their local payment processing charges. The 0 percent selling fee is currently only available in the US and UK.

Australia update: Depop announced on July 22 2026 that it is removing selling fees for Australian sellers. If you are in Australia check your current fee structure in the Depop app as the rollout may have reached your account.

Bundle sales for international sellers: the 10 percent selling fee is charged per item in the bundle but the payment processing fee is charged only once per transaction. Factor this in if bundling is a regular part of how you sell outside the US and UK.

Refunded sales:

When a sale is refunded Depop reverses every fee tied to it including the selling fee, processing fee, and boosting fee. A cancelled order should cost you nothing net. If you see unreversed fees on a refunded transaction contact Depop support.

H2: Depop vs Etsy vs eBay vs Walmart vs TikTok Shop – Fee Comparison

DimMath now covers five major ecommerce marketplace fee structures. Here is the honest comparison for a $35 sale in a general merchandise category.

Total on $35 non-boosted$1.60$3.48$4.76 plus $0.40$5.25$2.80

The headline takeaway: Depop is the cheapest of the five platforms for non-boosted sales. A $35 non-boosted Depop sale costs $1.60 in fees versus $3.48 on Etsy and $5.16 on eBay. The gap closes significantly when Boosted Listings are used since the 12 percent boost fee brings the total closer to eBay and Walmart rates.

Depop’s audience is specifically fashion, vintage, and streetwear. Unlike Etsy, eBay, Walmart, and TikTok Shop which accept broad product categories Depop is most effective for clothing, shoes, and accessories. The low fee structure makes it compelling for fashion resellers but the platform’s audience limits its utility for general ecommerce sellers.

A: The Depop Boosted Listings fee for US and UK sellers is 12 percent of the item sale price effective March 23 2026. It increased from 8 percent on that date. The boost fee is charged only when a boosted listing results in a sale. No sale means no boost fee. The fee is calculated on the item sale price only not the total transaction including shipping. International sellers outside the US and UK pay 8 percent for Boosted Listings. The boost fee stacks on top of the payment processing fee. A $50 item sold through a US Boosted Listing pays 12 percent boost fee plus 3.3 percent plus $0.45 processing fee for a total of $8.10 in fees or 16.2 percent of the item price.

Q: Does Depop charge fees on shipping?
A: Yes. The payment processing fee of 3.3 percent plus $0.45 applies to the total transaction amount which includes both the item price and the shipping cost the buyer pays. To minimize the shipping fee base use a discounted shipping platform to get the lowest label cost available so your shipping charge to buyers is as small as possible. Boosted Listings fees are charged on the item price only and do not apply to shipping charges.
